Lee Kun-Young

Born in South Korea Lee Kun-Young has been making art for nearly 50 years.

There is always more going on in his work than the images indicate at first glance; Lee Kun-Young’s artworks are very physical and symbolize the human mind and its connection to the physical world – they explore the idea that body cannot be separated from the mind thus it could not be separated from the universe.

Lee Kun-Young intervenes in the world by taking a more primitive approach through his physical realization or action rather than the ordinary factual or descriptive method, or following his recognition (head) or senses (eyes). While doing so, he reveals a keen sense of satire and humor to criticize the suppressive social structures without showing any critical image or message.
