ABOUT Beyond the Boundary #12

Beyond the Boundary #12

I found the material to give the impression of moving in space. Purple gives a cloudland and fantastic feeling. The color with symbolic meaning of mystery and magic, peace and creativity.

Junwon Seo's project, Beyond the Boundary, started off as his intention to approach the positive forthcoming by identifying the stationary present. In this body of work, Seo tried to express the escapeway from the oppressive and uncertain present life; the rabbit hole story of Alice in Wonderland and the theory of worm hole that are frequent subjects in SF movies, served as crucial references to visualize his strong hope for reaching the new world.

As a small aperture of camera obscura projects the outside images, he depicted his hope with the forms of tunnels and lights. To symbolize the tunnel as his current paths, Seo either made or found various tube shaped objects. He explored with artificial backlighting to contrast dark present and bright future.
